For the past several months, I've actually been uploading English cover videos on YouTube but been forgetting to create the blog entries for the English lyrics! So I'm going to try to catch up on those blog entries, now that my shoulder's much better!

This entry is for a video I uploaded back in June!

Playing the Guitar

I started playing guitar back in March, and this video was recorded around early June, so just about three months since I started playing. :)

This was when I started practicing with the guitar pick. I still have no idea how a guitar is properly played, but my image of a guitar is people strumming with their picks. lol

By this time, I've been practicing enough so that the tips of my left fingers were no longer hurting from the guitar strings.

This was when I think I kind of started feeling comfortable holding down the chords with my left fingers and strumming with my right hand. Kind of. Not by much since I wasn't able to play the guitar at all when I was in Japan for two weeks in May! lol

Background Pics & Video

I started practicing this song in April, and I was wondering what to use for the background image/video. I thought "hanamizuki" was a Japanese tree so I was thinking maybe I'd try taking pictures when I would be going to Japan in May.

But lo and behold, turns out that "hanamizuki", or the flowering dogwood, is a tree native to the U.S. lol

So once I knew what they were supposed to look like, I could swear I'd seen them around, so I looked for them everywhere and was able to take pics and shoot some video clips as well!

Although the place I found the dogwood trees, there was nowhere to place the phone so I had to hold it up myself making the video a bit wobbly... lol

English Lyrics

The Flowering Dogwood

Pushing up against the sky
You’re reaching with your hand, I remember one May
Won’t you please, I wish you would come
Won’t you please come over to the water side
A flower bud, I would give to you
A flowering dogwood from the garden

Blushing in a shade of pale crimson, my darling
May your dreams that know no boundaries
May you see through to the end
That you and your loved one
May you go on to last for a hundred years

The summer, it’s way too hot
And my feelings for you, they’re a little way too heavy
To cross over together
That would mean the boat would surely go under

Please go on, ahead of me
Go on ahead, don’t look back on me

Everything I’m holding in
May they bear fruit one day
And the waves that know no boundaries
May they come to a full stop
That you and your loved one
May you go on to last for a hundred years

Running after a fluttering butterfly I see
you waving high a bright white sail
Won’t you please send over a leaf
from a flowering dogwood when it’s Mother’s Day

There’s no need for you to wait
There’s no need for you to know

Blushing in a shade of pale crimson, my darling
May your dreams that know no boundaries
May you see through to the end
That you and your loved one
May you go on to last for a hundred years

Everything I’m holding in
May they bear fruit one day
And the waves that know no boundaries
May they come to a full stop
That you and your loved one
May you go on to last for a hundred years

That you and your loved one
May you go on to last for a hundred years
