I wasn't planning to write any blog entries until my next cover song video was up, but I realized that I'd forgotten to mention something in my yesterday's blog entry, so here's an unplanned entry today!

お買い物事情 / About Shopping
昨日の記事で
何故サンクスギビングを
お祝いするわけでもないのに
何故事前の買い出しが
必要だったのか
そう言えば書いてなかった！
と思って
In my yesterday's blog entry, I wrote about how I had to go grocery shopping on Monday, even though I wasn't doing anything special for Thanksgiving, and had failed to explain why I had to go shopping before Thanksgiving.
サンクスギビングデーって
お休みのお店が多いんですね
なので、何か「あ、必要！」
と思っても安易に
お買い物に行けないと言ふ・・・
It's simply because on Thanksgiving, I have no idea which stores are and aren't open. lol
So if I run out of water or veggies or any daily necessities, it's a bit more dififcult than usual to go out to get those.
今日お店開いているのか
いないのか、ネットに
載せてないところも多いので
実際に行ってみないと
わからないので
Most stores don't seem to list on the Internet what their store hours are for the holidays, so it becomes a hit or miss to try to go to the store and see if they're open or not.
行ってもやってなかった！
なんてことないように
事前に必需品を
買い込んでおこうと
月曜日にお買い物に行ったのでした
So, in order to avoid having to go on a day when I don't know which stores are open and which aren't, I wanted to make sure I got all my basic necessities covered before the long weekend.
サンクスギビングの過ごし方 / How I Spend My Thanksgiving
タカペンは特に何もしないので
いつもの平日の時間に起きて
9時からCBSチャンネルで
ニューヨークの
メイシーズ・
サンクスギビング・パレード
を観てました
I don't really do anything for Thanksgiving. I'm usually gaming, or if I really feel up to it, go hiking. Today, because I've been writing about Thanksgiving, I actually turned on the TV to watch a bit of Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on CBS, but that was it. :)
タカペンの住んでる近くに
ちょっぴり大き目の
道路があるので
いつも車の通りがあって
何気にうるさいのですが
日曜日は通りがなくて
とても静かなんですね
Where I live, there's a somewhat busy highway close by, so there's usually a hum of traffic in the background that I don't notice until it's Sunday, when there's no traffic in the morning, and the silence makes me aware that oh hey, I'd been hearing traffic Mondays through Saturdays without really noticing.
今日もテレビを観ながら
ふと気が付いたら
外が静かだな～と
And today, as I was watching TV, I realized that it was really quiet outside.
なるほど、サンクスギビングは
皆大抵の移動を水曜日のうちに
済ませるので、木曜日は
もう家族親族とまったり
過ごしてるパターンなんですね
People usually get to where they need to go to on Wednesday, so by Thursday, everybody's at where they're supposed to be and spending the day maybe sleeping in or just spending quality time with their families. After all, most stores tend to be closed. lol
静かでとても休日感があります

So it's been quiet and feels like a good day off. :)
ブラックフライデー / Black Fridays
とは言え明日はブラックフライデー
最近はネットショッピングも増え
サイバーマンデーなるものも
ブラックフライデーに追加されましたが
それでも多分まだ物理的に
お買い物に行くブラックフライデーも
あるんだと思います
But tomorrow is Black Friday. These days, or I should likely say in the past decade, people shop more on the Internet and we have Cyber Mondays, but I think there are still Black Friday deals in stores.
今はもうわかりませんが
数年前までなら
サンクスギビングの木曜日の深夜、
金曜日に日付が変わると同時に
セールが始まったりするとこもあって
木曜日の深夜から
お買い物に行く人たちがいたり
ブラックフライデーの人だかりで
圧死してしまったりなど
事件が起きることもありました
I don't know if this still happens now, but Black Friday sales being on the midnight of Thanksgiving Thursday, and sometimes, people get hurt in the crowd, sometimes so much so that there are even people who get trampled to death.
今はどうなんでしょう
Wonder if that's still the case these days.
因みにブラックフライデーの
セールって木曜日の夜から
金曜日の朝までなので
実は金曜日の午後に
お買い物にでかけると
意外と空いてたりします
On a side note, Black Friday sales usually end before the afternoon of the Friday, so I've found that there's usually not many people if I go shopping on Friday afternoon.
少なくとも去年は
空いてて快適でした(笑)
At least, I had a pretty good time shopping last Black Friday afternoon where there weren't so many shoppers around.
今年はどうかな～
Wonder if that'll still be the case tomorrow.
影の正体 / The Shadow
さて、サンクスギビングと
全く関係ないオマケの小話です
So anyhoo, a totally off topic subject.
今日はとっても良いお天気で
カーテン越しにも
陽が差し込んでいました
The sun was shining through the curtains this morning and I could tell it was going to be a gorgeous day.
今日も良いお天気だな～
と思ってカーテンを開けようとして
ふと見たら
小さな影があって
Thinking to myself what a beautiful day it must be outside, I was about to open the curtains when i noticed this tiny shadow.
あれ、こんなとこに
香水なんて置いてた・・・？
Huh... that looks like the shadow of a bottle of perfume or something.
と一瞬思って
Was the thought that very briefly flashed through my mind.
あっ
but
となりました(笑)
that was for less than a second.
その正体はこちら / Below is the culprit:
サボテンさんでした(笑)
My wittle wuvly cactus. :)
何か緑が欲しいな～
と数年前4つ買って
生き残った二つの
サボテンさんのうちの
一つです
I wanted a green something in my apartment without having to take care of it too much, and had bought a bundle of cacti. Of the four cacti that arrived, only two remains alive, and that picture is one of the ones that remain.
お名前はバリア
The name of the cactus in question is Varia. (Not the type of cactus, just a name to call it)
小さいまん丸い
サボテンだったのですが
いつの頃からか
上にこぶができたように
ニョキニョキと
生えてきました
Varia was a small round cactus, but it somehow grew a second round thing on top of it.
サボテンの生態が
よくわかりませんが
元気そうなのが嬉しくて
毎日にまにましながら
眺めてます(笑)
I've no idea what's normal for cacti, but it looks like it's thriving, which makes me happy looking at it every day. :)
